7 Agatha Christie Books to Read in the Fall

Spooky season is here and there is no better time to read a mystery! Fall is the best time of year to cozy up and read Agatha Christie and I have just the reading list for you. While I suppose you could consider any murder mystery perfect for this season, there are a few that invoke all the Fall vibes, either because they’re extra eery, or they make you want to cozy up with pumpkin spice tea and a favorite blanket while the weather turns colder outside.

I’ve made a list of 7 recommendations of the best Agatha Christie books to read in Autumn, and just for fun, I made a cute bookmark for you to print out too! I printed mine on card stock and since they print three to a page, I have extras to give to my mystery loving friends.

The Best Agatha Christie Books for Fall

I’m choosing to put this one in first place because I just finished reading it and LOVED it! It quickly jumped to one of the top spots on my list of favorites. Besides being very different from her usual kind of plot, The Pale Horse includes witches, seances, mysterious characters, and everyone’s favorite, Ariadne Oliver. A perfect read for spooky season!

Halloween Party book cover by Agatha Christie

This is a no brainer for the perfect Agatha Christie to read in October. I just started reading this one and know it’s going to be a good one. In the first chapter, Ariadne Oliver marvels over some of the differences between Halloween in America vs. England. I’m American and I know we’re so extra about Halloween, so it did make me laugh.

Book cover of Endless Night by Agatha Christie

One of Agatha’s personal favorites, Endless Night is in my opinion, one of her creepiest novels. An estate called Gypsy’s Acre, a mysterious old lady’s curse, and all the makings of a psychological thriller, this one is perfect for your Fall reading list.

Book cover of Mrs. McGinty's Dead by Agatha Christie

I haven’t read this one yet, but I recently discovered that many fans think Mrs. McGinty’s Dead is Agatha’s scariest mystery, so it’s now on my to-be-read-in-October reading list! It’s a Poirot novel, so we know it will be great.

A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie, book cover

Another of Agatha’s favorites, this book tells us exactly when the story takes place when several acquaintances are invited to a “murder mystery party” on October 29th. I’m sure you can guess that an actual murder occurs and Miss Marple is tasked with unraveling it.

Book cover of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Yet another of Agatha’s top ten personal favorites, many fans consider this her creepiest and most suspenseful novel. A stand alone work, I recently read this one and even though I’d seen a TV adaptation of it, it’s no surprise that the book was better!

Book cover of the Last Seance by Agatha Christe

If short stories are your speed, give these tales of the supernatural a try! I listened to the dramatized version of theses stories on Audible and enjoyed them. Perfect stories for Halloween with their creepy vibes.

That’s the list! There were more I considered including as Fall reads, but didn’t want to get carried away. Which Agatha Christie books would you have added to this list? I’d love to hear about them in a letter to the editor!

Of course, if you don’t have time for all the reading, but would love to hear these stories, consider an Audible subscription. With Audible Plus, you can actually listen to some Christie works without using up your credits! I really enjoy the BBC Radio dramas, they’re so well done. I have used my Audible credits for Miss Marple and Poirot collections of these radio dramas and have listened to them all more than once, so it’s been a great way to get more Agatha Christie. I’ve been a member for many years and am a true fan.

Until next time,
